Sometimes publicly answering someone’s specific questions are the fastest way to help that person and to educate many others on the topic at the same time. I know that most people have only a survival-mode understanding of how computers and business networks function. What if you read that there is a new computer virus going around, and you suspect that you don’t know if you can be hurt by it or not? How do you get answers?
I’d like to get some immediate feedback from you and to answer your specific questions about today’s daunting IT world. If you bumped into me at a local park, or at the supermarket, what would you love to ask me, just one-on-one? IT continues to evolve at a blistering pace, and there is no one issue that you “should know how to handle.” What was true for computer usage last week may not be true for computer usage this week. The more you know about business networks and IT support, the easier it is for you to determine how your technology can protect you, and serve to help you reach your business goals.
A frequent question for IT managers like Aptica is “how do I know if my firewall is strong?” I think the larger question always is, “am I well-protected overall?” I want you to know how to ask the questions so you can feel good about the IT investment you now need for your continued success.
Your feedback, your questions about IT, will help me stay on track with trying to expand small business owners’ understanding of how their computers can be their most essential productivity tool and not just a line item expense. And to be honest–I enjoy being asked, kind of on the fly at a school event or in a store, those questions that are top of mind for people in our communities. I’m pretty sure computers are here to stay. We should all be comfortable with the devices we interact with daily.
Please send your questions to [email protected]. I’ll get back to you in a timely manner, you can remain anonymous, and maybe my answers will help others wanting to know about the same thing.
I appreciate your help with this.
