This year has been so painful, and no one can really guess when things will turn around, am I right? Yes? Then stop using all this pain and uncertainty as a delaying tactic to not focus on your business. I’ve seen quite a bit of that. Some companies that were thriving before the national shutdown in March have not re-started. Some companies are limping along, waiting perhaps from a sign from the Heavens? We need to stop doing this. We should not wait for the pandemic to end and we need to take the upcoming election off the table as well.
People Have Had To Deal With Seemingly Impending Doom For Centuries
The pandemic. The economy. The election. World turmoil. Interference from adversarial governments. We have a whole litany of woes that are not made up but are true burdens. And I am not advocating that anyone stop paying attention to the big picture of Life In These Modern Times. But why should any of the situations mentioned above be the reason for any sensible businessperson to put their enterprise on hold? I remind you again: the Great Depression lasted 10 years. An entire decade. I don’t have a decade to wait to see what happens, and I suggest that neither do you.
Regardless Of Who Wins The Election, What Choices Do You Have After?
None of us can move to Canada; they won’t let us cross the border. Regardless of who wins any election, banks don’t shut down. Schools don’t change the curriculum. Municipal and state services don’t disappear, even if policies change slowly with new incumbents. Our lives are grounded in the hour-to-hour exchange of goods and services and community commitments and activities. These things do not change despite a change in leadership whether it is local, national, or global. We still pay our bills and make our kids take a bath. We may tighten our belts, but we instinctively strive to keep an even keel.
Small Problems Are Easier To Fix Than Large Ones
I think as we get older, we come to understand this notion better. If we have an owie, we will seek medical attention for it. Better to catch a medical condition early than to let doubt and fear build up as pain grows. It is the same right now for business. There is an owie. We need to seek assistance in taking care of it now before it gets out of hand.
Take a couple of days to keep a running tally of the conditions that you change or the situations at your work that you address on a daily basis, and remember how good it feels to keep putting one foot in front of the other. What else can we do right now? And why should we surrender to outsized calamities beyond our control?
